Gather
Gather brings together shifting tones of red, black and gold across a ridged surface that feels both ordered and organic. The play of colour suggests fragments drawn from land and memory, collected into one place.
The work takes its rhythm from the Scottish landscape, where light and weather constantly reshape how the land is seen and remembered. Each fold holds variation, a moment of shadow or a flash of brightness, much like the way memory gathers small details into a larger whole. The ridges create a sense of structure, yet the surface remains fluid and unpredictable, echoing the balance between order and change found in nature.
At its heart, Gather reflects on the act of coming together. It speaks to traditions of silversmithing and the making of objects for the table, whether vessels, centrepieces or utensils that bring people into conversation and community. Just as the surface collects traces of colour and form, the work considers how we gather not only fragments of landscape and memory, but also one another through the shared rituals of making, eating and remembering.
