Crafting Modern Silver: The Story Behind Ramsay Pagett Silversmith
As a contemporary Scottish silversmith, I create silverware that reflects both Scotland’s rich craft heritage and a modern, sculptural aesthetic. My journey began at Edinburgh College of Art, and since then, I’ve devoted myself to exploring the dialogue between tradition and contemporary design.
Each piece I make—whether bespoke jewellery, elegant tableware, or collectable silver—is inspired by the fluidity of the human form, the textures of the natural world, and the landscapes of Scotland. Through careful craftsmanship, I strive to produce objects that are functional, luxurious, and imbued with a sense of story and place.
Honouring Scottish Silversmithing Heritage
Scotland has a long and distinguished history of silversmithing, from intricate silverware to iconic tableware and jewellery. My practice honours these traditions while experimenting with modern techniques, ensuring that each creation carries the legacy of Scottish craftsmanship into the present day.
By blending contemporary design with heritage methods such as hand-hammering, chasing, and repoussé, I aim to preserve the art of silversmithing while offering pieces that feel fresh, tactile, and personal.
Collections and Bespoke Work
My ongoing collections feature luxury handcrafted silver that can be treasured for generations. I also offer bespoke commissions, creating one-off pieces that reflect the individuality of each client while remaining rooted in the rich traditions of Scottish silver.
